Shine a light

The St Martin Parade is a sparkling festival of large and smaller lights. A procession through the centre of Utrecht where everyone is welcome. There are choirs, orchestras and theatrical acts. Do you want to join in? Then bring some sort of light with you! Every year there is a global goal we focus on, which is the connecting theme of the parade.

Share the Fire of St Martin
Preceding the Parade, there will be three Fires of St Martin burning in several districts in Utrecht. There will be light art, music, song, dance, food and performances around an enormous fire. Entrance is free.

Sharing Arts Society (SAS) and St Martin
Every year SAS chooses a theme for the Parade from one of the 17 Global Goals of the United Nations. These provide the basis for a sustainable shared planet and are a contemporary translation of the values that St Martin symbolises. Martin of Tours became famous for sharing his cloak with a beggar. He is the patron saint of Utrecht and his feast day is celebrated in style from 4 through 11 November. For more information go to sharingartssociety.com and sintmaartenutrecht.nl
